Trying to expose myself to music clubs!

Well I'm sort of new to LA and would like to expose myself to different music venues. Ryan suggested that we should go to clubs to look at the equipment and listen to the music. Since I'm still 18, I'm looking for any suggestions on what clubs are open to my age and up. Whether it be dance or sit down, I don't really care. Just trying expose myself to new things. Oh also clubs that don't cost a lot to get in. Thank you.
